WAs Summer Romance
The WA stonefruit industry launched its ‘Summer Romance’ brand at the wholesale markets in November 2015.
The new branding campaign has been developed to assist consumers to easily identify and purchase locally grown produce. The branding covers peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums and cherries.
WA stonefruit growers have also united to build strong partnership with independent retailers belonging to the Great Greengrocer campaign to produce and promote the best quality stonefruit.
With fruit coming from Carnarvon, Gingin, Perth Hills and the South West over the months of October to April, WA has access to sensational stonefruit over the summer.
The warmer climate in Carnarvon and North Hampton is suited to early maturing varieties around Christmas time. During this time, fruit is arriving from Perth Hills and Gingin.
The South West is generally cooler in winter and spring which is ideal for the mid to late season varieties (from January through to April).
There are approximately 250 growers throughout the State producing high quality stonefruit. Over 175 growers are from the Perth Hills, Southern regions and its surrounds and roughly 30-50 growers in the northern regions.
