New Season Fuji Apples

New Season Fuji Apples from Manjimup and Pemberton are now available.

The fruit is excellent colour and being new season, shelf life is at it's peak.

Quince

New Season Quinces from the South West are now in season.

High in pectin, Quinces are used in jams, jellies or puddings where the flesh turns red after a long cooking time. Can also be stewed in the same way you would do rhubarb.

Limes

Very large volumes of Limes in the Market are driving prices down.

The Limes are very dark green in colour and are full of juice.

Bananas

Banana prices are finally starting to ease as volumes are increasing. Carnarvon and Queensland fruit are both getting back to full supply.

Banana leaves and Banana bread are always available from Select Fresh FYI.

Green Capsicums

Local Green Capsicum are now available, prices are dropping as local season really gets into swing.

Red Capsicum is still ex East at this stage. Local Red Capsicum season will start in a couple of weeks.

Cauliflowers

Prices beginning to ease on South West Cauliflower as supplies increase.

Some eastern States Caulis still being brought in to supplement WA for the next few weeks however.

Select Fresh conducted Apprentice Chef produce training this week at Crown Perth.

Topics covered were; Produce range, availability/seasonality and usage. 

The Bad News

Apricots are now finished.
Red Chillies remain in short supply.
Watermelon to rise in price.
Grape prices to firm as move to stored fruit.
